Issue 12 of the Safety Network Newsletter was introduced by Caroline Taylor, University Fire Officer. In it, she reflected on a 'whirlwind' year in fire safety, including the development of the Fire Updates and Safety Enhancements (FUSE) programme, the newly released Electric Powered Personal Vehicles policy statement and the revamped Fire Scenario Training.
This edition also provided further details of the other two policy statements released in November 2024 - Health and Safety Management Responsibilities and Laser Safety.
The Network was informed on a revised version of Safety Executive Group Guidance Note 03 - Guide to the Safety Network, changes to the University Occupational Health Service IT system, Christmas closure arrangements and the Vice-Chancellor's Awards which were to acknowledge the importance of safety culture.
Also detailed were new bespoke working at height practical courses, the University's Vision Zero event and four Safety Notices. Elsewhere, Tiphaine Bouriez-Jones was profiled in Meet the Network, management updates were provided following several committee meetings and Brian Jenkins was officially named Interim Director of Occupational Health & Safety.
