Chemical weapons

A list of chemicals listed under the Chemical Weapons Convention schedules

Certain toxic chemicals, their precursors and specified variants are subject to strict legal requirements and licensing conditions under the Chemical Weapons Convention.  The chemicals are listed within the following documents.

The Safety Office must be notified immediately if departments intend to hold, use or produce any Schedule 1 Chemicals or specified variants. Licensable variants include isotopically labelled analogues, stereoisomers (both optical and geometric), and corresponding salts.

In the case of Schedule 2 or 3 substances, the University must make an annual return to the Department of Trade and Industry of the quantities consumed, produced, imported, or exported.
