Contractors working on University premises

This University policy statement identifies the following requirements for the safe control of contractors working on University premises.

This includes:

• the identification of the risks introduced and the appropriate control measures
• university staff responsibilities
• contractor selection process
• controls and considerations that are necessary when contractors are working on site
• accident reporting

Anyone responsible for authorising a Hot Work Permit (below) must be competent. Estates Services provide training for those issuing permits, covering hazard identification, safety protocols, and compliance requirements. This can be booked through their registration form.
